Now Enrolling, Black Ash Pack Baskets!

Winter Pack Basket Commitment Workshop:

8 Students Maximum. 

Saturday Jan 18, 9-5

Mondays 4-8 pm Jan 20, 27, Feb 3

Cost: $350

Description:

In this hands on intensive workshop you will craft your own Black Ash Pack Basket, starting with a raw log of black ash. Students will be involved in every step of the process with the exception of tree harvest. The first day will be a Saturday and we will spend 8 hours intimately learning Black Ash, ring by ring, as we pound the logs to reveal the supple yet strong basket material. Then we will meet 3 consecutive Monday Evenings from 4 pm to 8 pm, in a warm indoor space, to size and scrape our splints, to weave the basket, and to finish the rims and put on straps. This process is incredibly physically demanding, and therefore the expanded timeframe to help our bodies to recover and to get the most out of the experience. This class is open to teens 14 and older, and adults. I’ve dreamt of teaching a workshop in this expanded format, and now that I have a basket studio, it has become possible. I look forward to making beautiful baskets with you!

Private Mentoring

One-on-one mentoring at any age can help you deepen your connections and improve your skills. I offer private mentoring in any physical skill that I offer, such as bow making, basketry, hide tanning, survival skills, etc. I also offer private mentoring focused on deep nature connection and naturalist skills (the two go hand in hand).

I also offer private mentoring focused on the Way of the Hunt. Hunting is a passion of mine and I absolutely love guiding others to develop inroads into this world. From bow and firearm safety to tracking and stalking, I am happy to guide people with any and all of the process. I am also happy to schedule mentored hunts for various animals that are legally- and seasonably-available for pursuits.
