Summer Gear
A good day at summer camp starts with being prepared. Let’s make sure you or your child have the right clothing and accessories to make it enjoyable for everyone.
We will be outside the entire day, likely getting wet, muddy, and fully immersed in nature. Clothing to be comfortable outside no matter the weather is essential. Sometimes long sleeves and pants are great even on a hot day to keep the bugs off. Other times a bathing suit is the best choice for wading in the creek and painting ourselves with clay, mud, and natural camo. Extra clothing is always a good idea, and please don’t send your kiddo with anything that you are not ok with getting a little dirty or beat up.
Please pack plenty of food and water for the day outside, including a snack and a lunch. We will likely not be able to refill water bottles, so a full 32 oz water bottle is a minimum. Students are welcome to bring knives or saws, I just need to know that they are bringing a tool like that as it is important that such tools only be used during specific and supervised activities. Lastly, a backpack to carry all personal gear is a must, as we will likely be wandering and exploring far and wide throughout the day/ week of camp.
Some camps may require other specific gear, and that will be noted in registration for those camps. Specifically, here’s what we recommend for summer adventures:
Comfortable Footwear – Shoes or sandals
Pants or Shorts
T-shirt – Comfortable tee in case it’s hot
Long sleeve – For bugs and sun
Bug repellent
Sunscreen
Sun Hat
Water Bottle – Enough to last 8 hours
